In 2021, I purchased a vehicle from a major dealership believing that buying from a respected name meant I was getting quality, honesty, and peace of mind. I was wrong.
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, serious problems began to surface. First, I discovered an active safety recall that had not been properly disclosed to me. Then the oil service light came on. Soon after, the engine began making a loud knocking sound and the check engine light appeared.
When I checked the oil, there was almost nothing on the dipstick. I had to add nearly five quarts of oil just to bring the engine back to a safe level.
I contacted the dealership expecting support, accountability, and real answers. Instead, I was told that losing large amounts of oil was normal.
Deep down, I knew something was seriously wrong. So I became my own advocate. I gathered records, documented everything, kept receipts, researched corporate filings, and sought independent expert opinions.
An independent dealership performed advanced diagnostic testing. The results showed severe internal engine failure. The recommendation was clear: the engine needed to be rebuilt or replaced.
The repair estimate came back at $26,875.54.
I documented evidence. I saved receipts. I sent demand letters. I pursued legal action. I prepared for court. I fought for accountability.
And despite doing everything I was supposed to do, I still lost.
